What is CUIK
CUIK (Communication Using Interactive Kiosk), pronounced "kwick", is an innovative, community-minded, interactive wayfinding system that helps smart cities connect with residents, visitors and the community and tell the story of the region.
This interactive kiosk experience is an avant-garde public engagement platform that is completely developed by a team in Nelson. CUIK aims to help councils, non-profit organisations, local businesses and tourism operators communicate with the public, encourage a pedestrian-oriented environment, and showcase what the region has to offer. CUIK also features, local artists and local legends.

Local Economy
Each kiosk allows residents and visitors to discover local businesses, artisans, restaurants, hotels, community events and activities.
The listings and communications are scalable and measurable through periodic stats and trends reports. The platform also provides promotional opportunities. Users can obtain vouchers and buy tickets for events through CUIK. This means the message not just seen by the user but also can be actioned immediately and complete a transaction on the spot.
Local Events
With CUIK an event can be promoted
through the listing, top banners or full-screen exposure. It can generate reports on interactions. Not just that, the user can get detailed info and even purchase tickets.
Social & Civic Resources
The wayfinding features on the kiosks facilitate navigation
around the city with directions, mapping and public
transportation information. Additionally, the disability-conscious kiosks can serve as a free wi-fi hotspot for members of the public, who can use them to browse listings for social and civic resources like parks, libraries and notices. We are also working on making CUIK multilingual.
The council can also obtain public trends reports,
anonymous survey reports and eventually pedestrian counts without the heavy cost that is currently associated with these. These tools can work together to make our city more interactive, safe and beautiful at the same time.
Apart from notifying users of any emergencies and council promotions, this function also gives the user access to council resources and guidelines.
Quick surveys let the council know the priorities and about other issues. Together with the council, we can make these features are more advantageous.

Installing, operating and maintaining the kiosk programme
requires no financial investment from the city or taxpayers.
The project is completely funded through sponsorships and
support from local businesses and nation-wide organisations
